New inground pools

Inground pool builder in Birmingham, AL

Gunite, vinyl liner or Latham fiberglass – we design it in 3D, pull the permit, dig, build and start it up with our own crews, then keep it running if you like.

Elite Pool Services builds all three types of inground pools across the Birmingham metro. Our pools start around $40,000; vinyl and fiberglass go in fastest, and a custom gunite pool can take up to about 12 weeks once the permit is approved.

We build all three, so we have no reason to push one. Here is how they compare in Alabama yards.

How we build

Every pool starts and ends the same way

  1. Consultation

Budget, how you will use the pool, type, size, depth and extras like a spa or deck.

  2. 3D design

Sun, access and the view from the house – approved by you before we dig.

  3. Permits

We handle the paperwork and inspections with the city.

  4. Excavation

Layout marked, then the dig with our own equipment; soil spread or hauled away.

  5. Structure & plumbing

Steel and gunite, wall panels or the fiberglass shell; plumbing and light conduits.

  6. Deck, finish & start-up

Coping, tile, deck, plaster or liner, equipment, fill and water balance.

From people who built with us

Dave and the Elite Pool team did an amazing job with our aged pool of 30 years. They helped connect us with a restoration specialist (Thanks ETS Restoration) that corrected a few issues in our backyard prior to starting the pool work.

So we hired Elite to install a pool in our backyard this summer and they did an excellent job for us and really made something special. John and team were very easy to work with and we even got to try out a new pool automation system that makes monitoring the pool a breeze.

Great company with knowledgeable employees! We use their weekly pool service and we recently had a new pool liner installed by Elite pools. We love the new look- reminds us of the emerald coast in Destin!

New pool questions

What does a pool cost in Birmingham?
How long does it take to build a pool?

Fiberglass and vinyl pools go in fastest. A custom gunite pool can take up to about 12 weeks once the permit is approved; spas, raised walls and stone work add time.

Do you handle the permit?

Yes – we prepare the drawings, pull the permit and schedule the inspections. Cities around Birmingham also require a barrier or fence around the pool; we build to the current code.

My yard is small, rocky or sloped. Can I still have a pool?

Usually yes. We have built pools on steep lots in Mountain Brook and lake bluffs on Smith Lake. Gunite handles slopes best; small yards suit plunge and compact pools.

Will a pool add value to my home?

Some studies put it at 7–15%, but it depends on the neighborhood. Build it because you will use it – a well-designed pool helps either way.
