Step by step
How it works
- Choose the tile
Glass, porcelain or stone – we help you match the tile to the plaster, the coping and the deck.
- Remove the old tile
Old tile and its setting bed come off down to a sound surface, usually while the pool is drained anyway.
- Set the tile
Waterline tile, step and bench markers and spa tile are set straight and level.
- Grout & seal
Grout, sealing and clean-up – the pool is ready for plaster or a refill.
More than looks
Waterline tile protects the top of the pool from sun, chemicals and the scum line that forms at the surface. Cracked or loose tile lets water behind the shell. Tile that is popping off is usually a sign of movement or water underneath, and we look for the cause before we reset anything.
Choosing tile
Glass mosaic catches light and looks great on dark finishes. Porcelain is durable and affordable. Stone suits natural designs. On our recent 18 × 36 gunite pool we used custom glass tile on a raised wall to give the pool a near-infinity look. We bring samples to your pool so you see them next to your coping and deck.
Calcium buildup
White crust on tile is calcium, common with Birmingham’s water and evaporation. We can clean it and show you how to keep it from coming back.
Customer reviews
What customers say
Elite Pools renovated and repaired our swimming pool. The pool is a vanishing edge pool with an in floor cleaning system with a lot of plumbing. It is a complicated set up. The cracks in the shell were repaired, the plumbing was repaired and it was replastered with new tile. It was a huge job.
Colton Rouge at Elite Pool Services cleaned our tile on the lanai and got our pool ready for the summer. He did an excellent job and is a very pleasant person to work with.
Elite Pool Service was an excellent choice for refurbishing our old pool. Their team was very professional, working rapidly to remove all of the old plaster and tiles. Their manager helped us select colors for the new plaster, tiles and coping. They met every expectation we envisioned to create an attractive new pool!
Can tile be replaced without draining the pool?
Small repairs sometimes, but a full waterline replacement needs the water lowered or drained. It is best combined with replastering.
