Why pools turn green here
Algae love warm water, sun and low chlorine – which describes an Alabama pool a few days after a summer storm or after a pump stops. Other common causes are a filter that is too small for the pool, a pump that runs too few hours, or stabilizer so high that chlorine stops working.

How long does green to clean take?
Light green pools are often clear in 2–3 days; dark green or black pools can take a week or more of visits.
Do you drain the pool?
Rarely. Most pools are cleared chemically. Draining is only worth it in extreme cases – and vinyl pools should not be drained without a reason.
