18 × 36 Gunite Pool with Onyx Plaster – Birmingham, AL

This 18 × 36 gunite pool in Birmingham shows how far a dark finish can go. The Onyx plaster turns the water into a mirror, and the raised back wall is clad in custom glass tile so the water seems to run right to the edge. Two fire bowls sit on the pillars at each end.

Around the pool we poured a brushed concrete deck and set white watercolor travertine coping – cool underfoot and a strong contrast to the dark water. The equipment includes an all-season heat/cool unit, a Poolside Tech automatic attendant for control from the phone, and illuminated water bubblers in the shallow end.
